In 1915 some one who was temporarily in The Hague came to me twice for Christian Science treatment for a skin disease from which she had suffered for nearly three years. As she did not give the name of the disease, the thought of possible contagion did not come to me. A short time after her departure, an eruption appeared around my mouth; and after a few days I found it was exactly the same as she had had. As this showed me how very contagious the disease seemed to be, I asked our family doctor, who in those days visited my father, whether I ought to take any precautionary measures for my family; and after an examination, he considered it absolutely necessary. He seemed to think the disease was of a virulent nature. I had no medical treatment but conscientiously followed the doctor's instructions for the protection of my family.

I set to work and tried to realize the truth about the whole thing, as it is taught in Christian Science; but when, after two days, I saw no improvement, I asked the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and was perfectly healed in a few days. The doctor examined me again, and admitted the healing; but he advised me to watch to see whether the disease would reappear in other parts of the body. Instead, I listened to what Christian Science told me in regard to it.

After six or seven months the doctor still inquired concerning it; and happily I could answer him that my healing had been permanent. The name of the disease has never been told me; but the fact that I was healed through Christian Science in a few days of a disease from which some one else suffered for years, gives me ample reason for gratitude to God; to Mrs. Eddy, who discovered this wonderful Science; and to the practitioner who so lovingly helped me.
