[Written for the Sentinel]

"Behold, the kingdom of God is within you"

I KNOW where to gather the far-away blueness
Of valleys and mountains, and find all the rapture
Of clouds, as they sail on the wings of the tempest,
Where to breathe in the silence of bare-bosom'd uplands,
And rejoice in the freedom of measureless skies.

I know where the flowers forever are blooming,
And the dew is conceiv'd for the heart of a rose,
Where the sunrise is fashion'd in marvelous splendor,
And the night is aglow with the glory of Spirit,
And the sea is a song in the bosom of God!

I know where to find the joy of the springtime,
The song of the lark, and the light of the morning,
How to gather the peace in the heart of the forest,
And find all the world in a rhythm of beauty;
For, behold, in my heart is the kingdom of God!
