I became interested in Christian Science about twelve...
I became interested in Christian Science about twelve years ago after witnessing the healing of a friend from a painful heart and chest trouble. The London specialists gave no hope of recovery. She is now a strong, active woman, First Reader in a church.
I was not seeking for health, but for some firm basis for faith, having left the so-called orthodox church and tried spiritualism and theosophy, without finding any help. After much battling with old prejudices and with discouragement over my previous disappointments, I was brought to see that I had, through divine Love, been shown the true way as demonstrated by Jesus the Christ, and was free to walk in it. Deeply interested in the study of our Leader's works, I began to find that maladies from which I had been suffering for many years, but to which I had become accustomed as necessary evils, were one by one leaving me. My hands, which had become twisted with rheumatism, resumed their normal shape. Severe headaches, to which I had constantly been a martyr, completely ceased; and, best of all, I was able to discard my glasses, which I had worn for forty years, and have never felt the need of them since.
Now, as years go on, I feel increasingly younger and stronger; and my friends, both Scientists and non-Scientists, remark on my appearance of health and vigor. Difficulties of course appear sometimes, but divine Love has never failed to meet and overcome them. Lately, when the fear of influenza was rife in the neighborhood, I was very severely attacked by it, and was obliged to ask a practitioner for help. Next day the symptoms had disappeared. Except for a slight sense of tiredness I was perfectly well, and able to do my work, which happened just then to be rather heavy. For this healing and for many other proofs of God's nearness, I am most deeply thankful.—(Mrs.) KATHARINE BALDWIN, Tunbridge Wells, England.
