As a result of having to undergo three surgical operations, I had been in ill health and under the care of physicians for many years. At last the doctors failed to help me in any way whatever. In my darkest hour a dear neighbor came in and told me of some Christian Science healings, and asked me if I should like to take her copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I said I should, although I knew nothing of its teachings. From the time I began to read this wonderful book I knew I had found the truth I had long been searching for.

On account of my serious condition I soon decided to ask help of a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner said she would take my case if I were willing to give up all medicine. This I decided to do, including a laxative I had been obliged to take every night for fifteen years. From my first meeting with the practitioner, doubt and fear began to lose their foothold in my consciousness; and through her calm, unfaltering trust in Truth error soon began to yield. When Science and Health was first handed to me I simply read it. Now I began to study it. Gradually the understanding came, and the new birth was begun. The Bible also became an open book for me to love and study.

During the first three weeks' treatment I stayed with Christian Science friends. I then returned home, healed of everything except one trouble. I continued absent treatment nine weeks longer, making about three months' treatment in all, and was entirely healed of the following diseases: nervous prostration, chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, adhesions, and conditions supposed to be caused by a tumor. I grew better and stronger every day while under treatment, and did many things I had been unable to do for years. Since that time, two years ago, I have remained in the best of health. I have never taken another drop of medicine or used any material means whatever, or had any desire to do so. I have gained nearly fifty pounds in weight, making my present weight seventeen pounds more than I ever weighed before.
