Without entering into a discussion of what is real and what is unreal—Christian Science teaching that "Spirit is the real and eternal" (Science and Health, p. 468)—it is perfectly plain that no system of healing can be classified as purely theoretical which produces practical results. Therefore, it cannot be denied that Christian Science is eminently practical. It has proved this by successful application to the healing of thousands of cases of disease,—disease which had been diagnosed, classified, and designated by learned doctors of medicine, and in many cases pronounced by them incurable. Christian Science is based upon divine Principle, from which there is no deviation. Students may not as yet grasp the full understanding of divine Principle, or thoroughly understand the rule for its application; but to classify it as merely theoretical—as well might one classify the science of numbers as purely theoretical, because some student is unable to demonstrate successfully a practical and everyday problem in applied mathematics.
