Grafton Sentinel
By the argument of a critic, which appeared in a recent issue of your paper, every Christian denomination in the world to-day would be ruled out, for each and every one exists because of failure to agree among themselves, each one contradicting the other in what is often supposed to be a vital point. But seeing this phase of the question only would be of no particular benefit, unless one could also see a remedy. Mrs. Eddy, through her keen spiritual discernment, found that through the practice of Christian healing as taught by Jesus the Christ, a way out of this labyrinth of human speculation could be found. This way is demonstrable. Mrs. Eddy says on page 109 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "I knew the Principle of all harmonious Mindaction to be God, and that cures were produced in primitive Christian healing by holy, uplifting faith; but I must know the Science of this healing, and I won my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration. The revelation of Truth in the understanding came to me gradually and apparently through divine power." Christian Science asks for agreement only on basic and demonstrable Truth. Jesus said, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." Christian Science is awakening the world to the great fact that the words of Jesus must be demonstrated or proved by works; and many thousands of people have been healed through the spiritual meaning of the Word, which comes to each individual as a revelation. On page 301 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christian Science is the new-old Christianity, that which was and is the revelation of divine Love."
