I was employed as a cook in a hotel, when one day I started to clean the coal range and thought I would use some kerosene. There were a few live coals in the stove, but I did not think any harm would follow. The can, however, contained gasoline; and an explosion followed. My clothes caught fire and were burned off me. The skin was burned off one side of my face; and my hands were also burned very badly. I was taken to my home, and a Christian Science practitioner was called to give me treatment. She advised me to go to the hospital and have the wounds dressed. The physicians and nurses there informed my wife that I could not recover. Once, the nurses expected me to pass away at any moment. My wife was interested in Christian Science, and she was with me daily. In seven weeks I was able to leave the hospital. Soon afterwards we started for our home; and in two months I was so greatly improved that I was able to do light work in a factory—only six months from the time of the accident. Later, I accepted a position, and took full charge as chef. At this writing all trace of the burn has disappeared, except a few small scars on the hands. There is no evidence of the burn on my face. I now enjoy better health than for twenty years previous, and am able to use my hands perfectly. Through the reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, all desire for tobacco left me.

Words fail to express my gratitude for the blessings that have come to our home since we became interested in Christian Science.—James Mathess, Toledo, Ohio.

The above is a true statement of the healing of my husband. He has been wonderfully healed through Christian Science after there was no hope from the use of material means. My mother, seventy years of age, experienced a beautiful healing through Christian Science; and I have been wonderfully blessed and helped.
