Our infant son of five months became afflicted with a...
Our infant son of five months became afflicted with a swelling on the neck, which grew until it reached both sides of his neck. It was called "tumor of a scrofulous nature." After several months it was thought best by the doctor to lance it. Both sides of the neck were lanced and wicks inserted; but this resulted in running sores. Many weary, anxious months were put in by both parents and child; and his life seemed slowly being sapped away. Indeed, we were soon told that nothing more could be done for him; that he would linger along, but probably the disease would in the end take his life; that even at the very best it would take years to outgrow it. Hope seemed almost gone from our home, and the days were heavy-hearted ones. It was at this time that Christian Science was proposed to us, and treatments were begun. While the complete recovery came somewhat slowly, there was an immediate change in the color of the child's face: the whiteness changed to a more natural hue. His health also began to build up; and in a few months he was a well boy. This was over twenty years ago. He is now a well man, with no trace of the old complaint.
Christian Science has brought sunshine many times to replace the shadows that seemed darkening our home, in the years from then until now; and I praise God daily that the light of Truth has been revealed to us. I should be glad if all mothers could have the privilege of its teaching for the upbringing of their families.
