The Father's "good pleasure"

As the first faint gleam of spiritual understanding enters the heart of the student of Christian Science, there comes to him the peace and confidence of an awakening sense of dominion,—an awakening holding within it the seed of unlimited development. He finds himself the joyous possessor of the priceless secret of eternal happiness. He also finds that the laws of divine Mind operate only when the divine Principle governing them is strictly adhered to and lovingly obeyed.

In the human sense of things, perhaps no problem is more constantly claiming dominion, and no temptation is more difficult to overcome, than the belief of inadequate and limited supply. Yet on every hand we read and hear of helpful, inspiring testimonies of the healing of this particular phase of evil through the demonstration of the truth revealed by Christian Science. In the Bible we are taught that God gave man dominion; and in the study of Christian Science we learn the simple and wonderful truth that one's mastery over every false circumstance depends upon his right concept of the situation. On page 518 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes that man's "birthright is dominion, not subjection. He is lord of the belief in earth and heaven,—himself subordinate alone to his Maker." Knowing this, the student of Christian Science who may find himself lacking in the necessities of human existence, must straightway busy himself with the happy task of searching out and finding his real supply; for in the apprehension of true substance lies his dominion: spiritual understanding is the "open-sesame" of divine Science.

One must realize that the laws of divine Mind operate through spiritual ideas, through thoughts of goodness and purity emanating from God. If he wishes to enjoy the benefits of divine law, he must love God's ideas and keep them gratefully in mind, refusing to admit the reality of any belief which the material senses may suggest. Recognizing only the things of God, he must trust faithfully in divine Mind, which has already bestowed upon man all good.
