In his epistle to Titus, Paul speaks of the grace of God as "teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." So also Christian Science, in strict accord with these words, teaches how to utilize the grace of God in denying, and so destroying, evil. Christian Science teaches that God created all, and all that He made is good. It is evident, therefore, that evil is not created by God, and so is unreal. Christian Science does not teach people to shut their eyes to the belief of evil. On the contrary, it enables them to be more fully conscious of the reality and omnipotence of good, and to prove the power of good progressively in their daily living. In this way students of Christian Science are becoming more alert to detect and overcome evil than they were before learning of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy presents a practical rule for the overcoming of evil on the basis of Scripture, when she writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 571): "At all times and under all circumstances, overcome evil with good. Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil."
