I am so very grateful for all that Christian Science has...
I am so very grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me. It has been a revelation to me of divine Love. Although just at the beginning of this road to Truth, I have had wonderful proofs, both physical and moral: in Christian Science the two go side by side.
During the serious influenza epidemic a few years ago, my little girl of seven years was suddenly taken ill with all its symptoms, including a very high temperature. Fear struck into my heart. I asked for help in Science, which was immediately given; but I was also told that for my own sake I must try to see through the lie, and cast fear out of myself. I worked earnestly in Science for an hour, but did not seem to be making any headway at all. Then I took the Bible, and opened it at these words in Proverbs: "Be not afraid of sudden fear ... For the Lord shall be thy confidence." This exposed the whole error; and after another minute or two I rose, happy and fearless in the spiritual understanding that God's creation is perfect and eternal, and that everything else is but a false picture—simply the mesmerism of corporeal sense. My little girl was sleeping peacefully, and the next morning her temperature was normal: she was healed.
This is only one of many proofs I have had. If we earnestly and faithfully desire holiness, it is wonderful how Christian Science uncovers to us, step by step, those things that are unchristlike in our consciousness; and when they are uncovered, the truth destroys them. This will go on "till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ."
