Words are inadequate to express my gratitude and thankfulness for the efficacy of the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science.

In May, 1913, I was advised by several physicians to undergo an operation for an internal growth, which had caused me a great deal of trouble for about a year. They made an incision, and found things in a dreadful condition. The physicians in attendance pronounced the growth malignant cancer, too far advanced to operate on. They sewed up the incision, and gave me, at the longest, six months to live. I remained in the hospital for three weeks; but my condition was kept from me until the day I was taken home, when my doctor told me of its desperate nature. I had been brought up under medical laws, my father being a physician, and I knew nothing of the teachings of Christian Science; but I turned to Christian Science for healing, and was restored to health by leaps and bounds. The growth disappeared, and I have not been troubled since; in fact, I enjoy better health than ever before, thus proving that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." At the same time, ten years ago, my daughter was healed of tubercular glands. She was healed by Christian Science treatments, the growth disappearing in a short time.

In Christian Science the healing of physical ills is a minor part. It gives us a new song to sing, a brighter outlook on life, and teaches us to know God. My desire is to have that Mind in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," that I may be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.

I am very glad to add a little to the above testimony. I had been suffering for some time from tubercular trouble, and had been under practically every medical treatment known for this disease. I had slept outside for two years through the most severe winter weather, hoping to conquer this disease while quite young. It settled in the glands of the throat, which became very much enlarged. After the second operation many more of the glands were affected. A third operation was said to be necessary, and it was then the Christian Science treatment was given. The healing was permanent and complete in every way. Five years later, when I was examined for life insurance, the doctor remarked about the wonderful expansion of my lungs, and said it was easy to see I had never suffered from tubercular trouble!

This demonstration is only one of the many proofs I have had of the healing power of Christian Science; and I cannot imagine now what my life would be without the understanding I have gained of God. Every day I am more grateful for the realization of God's power, and the knowledge that we cannot be separated from God, Life, Truth, and Love, as is taught us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. — (Miss) Frances A.
