It is with a heart full of gratitude and joy that I give this testimony. When the light of Christian Science first reached my darkened consciousness, I was laboring under the fear of becoming insane, through sorrow and despair. I felt myself overpowered and completely weighed down by a sense of the power of evil. The only sure foothold in this dark and unsafe mental state was a positive assurance that there must—in spite of all—be a good God somewhere; but I knew not where to find Him.

At last I came to the point where, having searched for Truth and found it was not in human opinions and theories or materia medica, I turned to Christian Science. My weary search was at an end. I had found absolute Truth, the only Saviour from all evil. I now understand that God was with me all the way through the purging process of affliction that freed me from the false trust in intellectuality and materiality. I was instantaneously healed of the dread of losing my reason; and from that day on—now seven years ago—life has become ever brighter. As I formerly dreaded the prospect of going through a new day, I now rejoice in the daily opportunity of knowing the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, good. I have also been healed of many attacks of sickness through Christian Science, such as bad colds, toothache, disease of the bowels, ear complaint, dyspepsia, nervous breakdown, and heart trouble.

My two little daughters have been healed of the so-called Spanish influenza, the younger one practically instantaneously. The elder was healed some years ago of a bad form of rheumatism, which in two other cases in the family had proved fatal. It has never reappeared, and the seeming after effect of the disease was at the time overcome in two treatments. She has also been healed of bad colds, chicken pox, and a nervous complaint. I have learned to leave my children to the infinite care of the one Father-Mother God, and not to interfere by letting the sense of human responsibility govern. Christian Science has taught me that they do not belong to me or to their human father, but to God, Life, Truth, and Love. Thus I have been freed from much anxiety and fear.
