Some years ago, I seemed to manifest what the specialists diagnosed as a serious eye trouble. I doctored for some time, but receiving no benefit, came East to consult eastern specialists. They labored long and faithfully; and I feel safe in saying that everything known to them was employed in my behalf.

When Christian Science was presented to me, I felt that I was at the end of my rope. I engaged a practitioner as a last resort, but with very little hope of receiving help. My healing was not instantaneous, for it was about three months before I realized complete freedom; but what a joyous period it was, for I was taking my first steps towards a knowledge of the truth that makes men free. At the end of this time I was able to discard all my glasses, of which I had a very interesting collection, both of colors, special grindings, and so forth. I first noticed, after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for several hours, that the inflammation in the eyes was gradually disappearing. This seemed especially remarkable to me; for I had been cautioned by the specialists that the slightest use of the eyes would aggravate the trouble. I was to learn that the reading of the truth has "healing in his wings." Considerable time has passed, as mortals count time, and the healing remains permanent.
