[Written for the Sentinel]

"The secret place"

From seeing, hearing, sensing,
I turn away, and seek an inner court
Or quiet, lighted place,
Where neither sight nor sound
Can change one line
In all the structure.
There, I seek and find
The answer to my prayer,
The consolation for my woes,
The nurture for my famished, weak affections;
And this divine supply is infinite.
Rejoice, my heart, thy God is bountiful!
