I took up the study of Christian Science in the hope of regaining health and strength, never dreaming of the unlimited blessings which await us all. I had suffered a very great deal for nearly two years, following the birth of my second child; and during that time I was under medical care, and also underwent two operations. After the second operation, feeling more hopeless than ever, I decided to try Christian Science, which had been recommended to me by a friend. I began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and realized that I had found something real and practical. I continued reading, endeavoring to practice what I understood, with the result that I was entirely healed, one trouble after another gradually disappearing.
The physical healing was wonderful to me; yet this has proved one of the smallest blessings of Christian Science. The clearer perception of what real substance is, the daily unfoldment of what constitutes the real man, and the better understanding of the reality of good and the consequent unreality of evil,—these are joys which only Christian Science can give, and which nothing can take away. We have had many demonstrations of healing in our home during the past eight years, and in the upbringing of the children Christian Science has proved invaluable. My heart is full of gratitude for its teachings, and for the light they have thrown on the Bible, which I formerly rarely read, but which now is a continual source of joy and comfort. I am conscious of the great debt the world owes our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her faithful perseverance and love, in establishing the Cause of Christian Science, thus making available the truth about God and man; and I now express my gratitude for all the activities connected with the Christian Science movement.—
