[Written for the Sentinel]

"Yesterday, and to day, and for ever"

Why doubt to-day? since yesterday
You trusted not in vain—
You felt God's guidance all the way,
His mercy did not wane.

Why fear to-day? His tender care
All yesterday you knew,
'Mid trial and testing He was there,
To see you safely through.

Why plan to-day? Not yours the fight!
The yesterdays have shown
Your battles conquered by His might,
The vict'ry His alone.

How true the yesterdays recall
His love along the way!
He changeth not—forever All!
Dear heart, fear not to-day.
