About fifteen years ago, I was led to investigate the teachings of Christian Science. My first experience of its healing power was during my first reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. In answer to an earnest desire to know if the message contained in that book was indeed the truth about God and man, I was instantaneously healed of an ailment for which I had been dosing myself with medicines for many years. This healing came to me with such convincing proof of God's power and willingness to heal, that I can never forget the joy it brought me. Since that time I have never resorted to medicines, but have relied wholly on God, divine Mind.

All cases of healing are very helpful to the one healed, but the following may be of help to others. Some months ago, while walking along a busy thoroughfare, in order to avoid the people on the pavement I stepped on to the roadway, passing behind a large van that was drawn up to the curb. As I did so, the door of the van swung suddenly open, striking me with such force that I was thrown down. The full force of the blow seemed to come on my face; and for a few moments the pain was intense. I got quickly on to my feet; and the first clear thought that came to me was that there is no intelligence in matter, it cannot of itself ache or swell; and then I realized that as God's child no harm could come to me. Within a few minutes all the severe pain subsided; and a few hours later all sense of having had a fall passed away. I had no after effects of pain or injury; nor was there the slightest sign of bruise or swelling on my face to remind me of this experience. This is only one of many instances I have had, of what the understanding of God and man's relationship to God, as revealed in Christian Science, can do.

A great sense of lack has been overcome through the realization that "ceasing to give, we cease to have;" and a sense of separation and sorrow has been healed through the understanding of God as divine Love, infinite and ever present, guarding and guiding all "in their passage from sense to Soul" (Science and Health, p. 566). I can never express in words all I owe to Mrs. Eddy. Only by the daily application and demonstration of the truth can I prove my gratitude.—(Miss) Cicely M. Kennett, Putney, London, England.
