The Lectures

Lausanne, Switzerland (Society).—Miss Martha Bollinger, introducing Bicknell Young, a Christian Science lecturer, spoke as follows:—

The world is undergoing a great awakening. People are beginning to think more of the deeper things of life. They are asking questions. They are demanding answers that are consistent and convincing. Human beliefs, theories, and doctrines are being called upon to prove their strength and they are found trembling in the balance,—indeed, they are found wanting. Never has humanity been in greater need of an understanding of God than to-day.

Christian Science unfolds to the student the divine law of life, and this law or rule of living is so scientific and yet so simple that every one can understand it. As Christian Science is unfolded to the beginner, the problem of evil, which has confused the ages, is explained; and under the touch of the law of Truth, or Science, the desire to do evil diminishes and finally disappears from the human consciousness. Christian Science never leaves the student where it found him. It lifts him morally and spiritually to a higher plane of action, it cleanses his mentality of the dread and darkness of an unknown existence, it assures him of the absolute certainty in the eternality of being and man as the image and likeness of God.
