After I had been ill for a long time and under the care of many physicians, and had tried practically everything else with no change except to grow rapidly worse, I simply kept my life insurance paid and felt I would be glad to die, because I could not sleep or eat and the pain was so terrible. One physician said the lining membrane of the stomach was entirely destroyed; another said the trouble was stomach ulceration. One physician spoke of an operation; and one said the trouble was a floating kidney.

Then came the thought: Why not be fair enough to try Christian Science, since you have tried everything else; if Science does not heal you it surely cannot hurt you, because Christian Science treatment is only prayer. I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and went to a practitioner. Immediately I began to get well, just trusting, sleeping, and eating like a little child, and reading the Christian Science textbook day and night, as I had time.

My health was completely restored; my business worries and financial problems were all worked out by the truth of Christian Science. This healing occurred in 1909. Since then I have had many healings, a number of them instantaneous; but the greatest thing that ever came into my life is the spiritual understanding and knowledge of the truth, which came from my study of the Bible and Science and Health. To say that I am grateful fails to express it, because so much good, so much real joy, has come to me through this study. I have found that the "scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of the textbook, is just as true and accurate as is the multiplication table; and I have been able many times to prove this to be true.
