Emerson was right when he said, "When a thinker is turned loose on the earth, thrones totter." It has often been proved that nothing on earth that is based on falsehood and injustice can permanently stand before the power of right thinking. When it comes to be generally recognized that there is in fact only one real power,—and that the power of God, good,—then the kingdom of God will indeed be near at hand; and all who are in deep sincerity endeavoring to follow Christ will recognize in every man something of the image and likeness of God; and this alone will establish the brotherhood of man and end wars. There is no more promising sign that this time is approaching than the fact that newspaper editors in this and other states have glimpsed this great truth; and, in utterances that deserve more recognition than they get, are pleading for tolerance, justice, and forbearance.
