In reply to a critic in a recent issue of your paper, it may be stated that the reason Christian Science has "spread so widely" is that it has justified its existence. It is not by words but by deeds that humanity is convinced. To Christ Jesus works were of more importance than words. In the same way, Christian Scientists are more concerned with right living and proof than with talking, thus taking to heart the injunction of the apostle James, "Be ye doers of the word." One good case of healing through Christian Science is of more value than much talking; and it is because this healing is taking place to-day that Christian Science is making such rapid strides all over the world.

Christian Science and psychology (as the term is used by the critic) have nothing in common. Christian Science teaches its students how to "let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Psychology teaches the use of the carnal mind, which Paul says "is enmity against God."

Reliance on "the recuperative powers of Nature" may sometimes mean doing nothing but waiting and hoping for the best. Christian Science teaches positive, active, absolute reliance on God, Spirit, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
