"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This promise, made by the Master, which is so familiar to every Christian Scientist, was altogether unknown to the writer before she commenced the study of the glorious truth as revealed in Christian Science. Her acquaintance with the Old Testament was slight; and she knew nothing whatever about the New Testament, except that there was such a book, and that it was used in the Christian churches. Eager to help a dear one, and having been told that Christian Science could heal him, she bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, little realizing what a treasure she had acquired. Then she set about to find a particular set of rules by which the healing work could be accomplished. She had been told of wonderful healings, among them the healing of a very dear friend; and she marveled that any one could have so much faith in God as to discard every material remedy, and trust Him entirely to perform the healing work.

Although the writer had no thought of seeking healing for herself, as she searched the pages of the precious textbook of the Science of Life, and as her old false beliefs were being replaced by the facts of being, an ailment which had troubled her for about four years left so naturally that she did not realize, until some time later, that she had been healed by this truth that makes free. Still, she continued her quest for a certain formula or set of rules whereby to help the loved one, until one day, after having suffered from a disease then epidemic, she suddenly had an influx of the Holy Ghost,—the Comforter which leads into all truth.

Our inspired Leader tells us, on page 581 of our textbook, that angels are "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality." It was one of these angels, then, which so flooded the writer's thought with light that she was instantly healed, and was able to leave her bed and go about her duties naturally, joyfully, and with perfect ease. This experience was sufficient proof that Christian Science is true, because it does heal; that, having performed this healing, it could accomplish all healing; and never since then has she had any desire to use any material remedy or to call a physician, having learned that the one great Physician is ever with us.
