Signs of the Times

[From the Vanguard-Telegram, Venice, Calif.]

Have you ever stopped to think what it is to be Godlike? Have you ever analyzed the phrase at all? Have you any idea of what Godlikeness means in every human endeavor —in everyday affairs? . . . In the first place, in considering God, you cannot conceive of God as lacking anything in courage, can you? Certainly not! Then you may understand that it is your right to be courageous, and thus far you can be Godlike. You cannot think of God as knowing anything of fear, can you? Then you can be fearless; and in fearlessness, at least, be Godlike. This is only a hint of what is the birthright of every man, if he will learn the truth and study the teachings of [the Christian] religion. You know you can be, and in some measure are, in these things, Godlike. Have courage! Have confidence! Be fearless! Have courage to do what is right. Have confidence in your fellow-man, as well as in yourself. Know that ye are all sons of the one Father and what He hath given unto one He hath given unto all. Be not afraid for the honesty and truthfulness and goodness of others. Be fearless in your own honesty, and trust in God and your fellow-man. Go to church and learn something of the truth of Life and of right living. Learn to think right and you will act right, and that means living right. If you think right and act right, your reward will be as sure as that two and two make four. This is the law.
