Having received so many blessings through the study...
Having received so many blessings through the study and application of Christian Science, it is with a grateful heart I give this testimony. Christian Science came to me in the summer of 1920. At that time I was, so the doctors declared, upon my deathbed with tuberculosis. The medical profession held no hopes of my recovery. It was then that a dear friend lent me a copy of that blessed book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I was so weak from having night sweats, and my eyes were so dim that I could only read a few lines without stopping to rest. But thanks to God, and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, in this new-old truth I found that perfect rest.
I did not seem to understand, at first, this wonderful truth that makes men free. All other hopes of my recovery being abandoned, my wife called to see a Christian Science practitioner, and arranged treatment for me. At the time my wife left the house to enlist the aid of a practitioner I was in bed, so weak that I could not speak above a whisper. When she returned home, about two hours later, I had arisen from bed, dressed, and was sitting out on the porch reading. The pain had about all gone out of my lungs. I went to bed that night feeling much refreshed, and instead of waking in the morning at three o'clock, with a night sweat, as had been the case before, I slept soundly until awakened by my wife at nine o'clock. I arose and ate a hearty breakfast, —something I had not done for several months. The next day I was out, going about the city. This was proof to me that the power of God is quick, and His truth sharper than any two-edged sword. I had been told long before this by the doctors that I must quit my trade (that of broom making), as the dust was killing me. After studying the Bible together with Science and Health for a month, I returned to my trade and suffered no inconvenience, thus proving that God truly is ever present, and that no harm can come to His children.
We have had many wonderful blessings in our home since beginning the study and application of Christian Science. Before this wonderful revelation came to light the way for us out of the darkness of sin, sickness, and death, with all its fears, its wants and woes, into God's heaven of health, life, happiness, and plenty, my wife had been under the constant care of a doctor for seven years. Most of this time she could not do any of her housework. This has all been overcome by the application of the truth, as taught and demonstrated by Mrs. Eddy. There has not been any medicine in our home since Christian Science came to us and healed all our diseases and supplied all our needs.
