When the Jews marveled at his wondrous teachings, Jesus...

Advance—Monticellonian

When the Jews marveled at his wondrous teachings, Jesus said: "My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." Christian Scientists claim no other doctrine or religion than that founded upon the Bible, and more particularly the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus, even as the apostle declares in his epistle to the Corinthians, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

When Paul warned his dearly beloved convert to avoid "profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called," did he not at the same time imply the antipode or the very opposite of a false, so—called science, which might be termed true Science or even Christian Science? According to one dictionary, science is defined as "knowledge, ascertained truths or facts;" and Christian Science is understood to be accurate, comprehensive knowledge of God as the only cause or Principle of existence, whereby the truth of creation may be ascertained and the facts of being admitted. To do His will,—that is, to live in strict obedience to divine Principle, Love, having that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus,"—necessarily reveals the Science of Christianity, reaching its culmination in the resurection and ascension of its highest exponent, our great Exemplar, who could offer no more sublime proof of his oneness with the Father. On page 483 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes: "Christianity will never be based on a divine Principle and so found to be unerring, until its absolute Science is reached. When this is accomplished, neither pride, prejudice, bigotry, nor envy can wash away its foundation, for it is built upon the rock, Christ."
