The Lectures

Hastings, Mich. (First Church).—Judge Samuel W. Greene, lecturer; introduced by Mrs. Ermina Pelham, who said in part:—

The world to-day is in the midst of turmoil, strife, and upheaval. Peoples of all races and classes are striving and clamoring for that which will give them surcease of their troubles, and so as never before men are turning to God for help, demanding a more practical religion and a better understanding of the true God and man's relation to Him. Time-honored systems and dogmas, which have been thought for centuries as all-sufficient, are being weighed in the scale of usefulness and are found wanting. They are being cast out, because they do not bring happiness and contentment to the people.

Christian Science has come to establish the forever fact that true religion must of necessity be as demonstrable as mathematics and music. If a man's relation to his Maker were a mere matter of chance, the world would be drifting through the mazes of materialism, having no guide.
