I want to give this testimony in great gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for what the study of Christian Science has given me—a better understanding of the Bible. No one ever needed Christian Science more than I did. It found me with many troubles and difficulties, not knowing which way to turn. From the first reading of Science and Health I felt I had found the truth and was anxious to prove it. I have been healed of the desire for alcohol and of bad attacks of bronchitis followed by a hard cough which lasted for weeks at a time, and the last attack for months. A friend, a member of our church, said to me, Why do you have that cough? God didn't give it to you. I had not seen it in that light before. I had had such beautiful proofs of the power of truth over error that perhaps I had not been grateful enough for them; instead I felt discouraged. Then remembering my many blessings and repeating the third verse of our dear Leader's hymn, "Mother's Evening Prayer," (Poems, p. 4):—

O make me glad for every scalding tear,
For hope deferred, ingratitude, disdain!
Wait, and love more for every hate, and fear
No ill,—since God is good, and loss is gain,
