As the year draws to its close I feel that another one cannot commence without an acknowledgment of the great benefits I have received through Christian Science. Eight years ago, we heard of Christian Science through friends, and I attended a service with a sister in a church in London, England. Later I read the literature whenever I had an opportunity, but did not attempt any demonstration. I believed in it, but could not grasp the actual meaning of working it out for one's self.
I never had much faith in medicine, after having been a dispenser of drugs and seeing so many people return again and again and not get any better. Five years ago I was sent home from business, every one saying I looked very ill. For two days I was in bed with a nervous breakdown. I, however, asked a friend to write for absent treatment for me, and the next morning I was healed. Since that I have overcome feverish attacks, which I had from youth whenever I was overtired, and many minor ailments. I am very grateful for the large amount of free literature sent to me, when I seemed to lack the necessary subscription money, also that harmony is beginning to reign in our home. Though only a very young student of this healing truth I realize what an enormous good Mrs. Eddy did for humanity, in making the way clearer to us.
