Right Idea
EVERY right idea is blessed of God; maintained, supported, governed, controlled by the Mind which created it. No sense of lack can hinder a right idea, no sense of fear can retard it, no self-depreciation can stop it, no evil can rob it of unfoldment. Every right idea unfolds day by day, step by step. Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, says, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 258), "God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis." It is never separated from its divine Principle, Mind. Mind and idea are one. As Jesus explained it, "I and my Father are one." This "I" which he said was one with the Father is the Christ-idea, or the real nature or life of man.
On page 591 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy gives the following definition: "MAN. The compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind." This "I," then, which is one with the Father or Mind, is made up of all right ideas, which combine to make the complete man of God's creating. Thus man has a right idea regarding health, home, position, supply, and all things that concern man. These things are the "all that I have is thine." No matter what the right idea concerning man may be, it cannot be discordant in any way or separated from its divine Principle, God, or Mind, which conceived it. All right ideas are conceived of Mind and maintained in perfection eternally.
It is the false human belief about things that concern man that is unstable, discordant, and subject to destruction. Take, for instance, the idea of education. Now education is really man's possession—it belongs to him by divine right; but the human belief about acquiring an education is often beset with many difficulties, such as lack of supply, or of health, or depreciation of one's ability. So many are the obstructions which human belief has placed in the way of those desiring education, a great many do not even try to obtain it. Many try and fail; many more succeed only after a hard struggle. Some acquire it and are never able to use it because the mere getting of it has completely broken their health. But all this discord is apparent only of the false concept of education—the human belief about it and man. Now the true or right idea about education is based on an entirely different mode of thinking. Indeed, it is so different that it is the direct opposite to the false human belief. The right idea in regard to education begins with the knowing that God as Mind is reflected or expressed by man, and right there is man's education already established. The unfoldment of education follows as a natural consequence, for Mind is constant and ceaseless activity unfolding through its idea, man. This is the command to multiply and replenish the earth. This is the divine or Christ-idea in regard to education.
