In the article, "Hypnotic Suggestions," in a recent issue of the Observer, there appears a statement which might lead one to believe that Christian Science is a form of mental suggestion. This is not the case. Christian Science treatment is the application of spiritual truth to human error, and is brought about by the action of the divine Mind (the Mind which was in Christ Jesus) in contradistinction to the hypnotic influence of the so-called carnal or human mind.

The great difference between the healing of Christian Science and that of hypnotic suggestion is that in the former case the patient is healed morally, physically, and spiritually, whereas by the latter method the patient loses his individuality and is more apt to be influenced by evil suggestions thereafter.

When our Master was accused of casting out devils, evils, by Beelzebub, he replied, "If Satan cast out Saten, he is divided against himself." He then went on to say, "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you." This is the Christian Science method.
