Before I was healed two years ago I was a physical...
Before I was healed two years ago I was a physical wreck. I suffered with acute gastritis and kidney trouble. My blood was turning to water, I had rheumatism, and had not been free from headache for five months. I was taking a drug every day to keep in condition to teach. I was told by the most prominent physicians here and in Hot Springs, Arkansas, that I was suffering from one of the most acute forms of disease known to medical science and that unless I was operated upon I would either be dead or insane in less than six weeks' time. It was while I was in this condition that blood poisoning appeared in my left foot. Through the solicitation of a friend of the family, my husband asked for help for me in Christian Science. He had no faith in it whatever, but was willing to try anything. In less than thirty minutes I was quiet and in an hour I was rational and asleep. In three days I was able to be up and teach, almost all the swelling had gone, and in a week you could not tell I had ever had blood poisoning. I have been healed of the other diseases also and of the headaches, so that to say I am grateful does not begin to express my feelings.
We were in terrible financial conditions, but we have been benefited wonderfully through Christian Science. For all these many proofs of God's mercy and care I am grateful, but I am most grateful for the spiritual uplift and the knowledge I have gained of God. I am a better wife, a better mother, a better daughter, a better friend, and a better neighbor than I was before studying Christian Science. The last words my husband used to hear when leaving for work were, "Oh, if I could die before night," and the first words when he came home were, "Oh, if I could die before morning." You see I was helpless, I was past turning in bed, he had to turn me at night and others in the day. Now I sing, Praise God for my life, I want to live to glorify and magnify Him.—(Mrs.) J. M. Mayfield, Houston, Texas.
