A paragraph in the Sentinel of December 21, 1918, announcing that articles and testimonies from members of The Mother Church were welcomed for consideration by the editors, brought home very forcibly the fact that for a long time I had neglected to take advantage of this blessing.

Every earnest student of Christian Science has so much for which to be grateful that to confine his testimony to the space available in a single periodical seems a huge task, but so much of good has come to me through this avenue, I want to pass along my expression of loving gratitude in the hope it may help some other traveler on his journey from materiality to spiritual understanding.

Christian Science found me a miserable, discontented sufferer, without God or hope, although an active member in a denominational church. On a visit to a friend in Youngs-town, Ohio, six years ago I was taken to a Christian Science lecture and there found so many former acquaintances enjoying the blessings of Christian Science, I at once felt here was the something for which I had been looking, and on my return to my home, then New York City, I went to a reading room in my neighborhood and borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it through as quickly as possible, only to find that I had seemingly been reading only words. What those words really meant was later revealed to me when I discovered that chronic headache, backache, and constipation had simply vanished.
