[Written for the Sentinel]

Sun of Righteousness

Oh the pity of our plight,
When we trespass 'gainst the right,
Blindly follow error's leading,
Truth's divine appeal unheeding.

Whoso maketh flesh his arm,
Thinking to redress his harm,
From the law of Love departed,
On an evil way has started.

If 'twere only understood
Man is ne'er bereaved of good,
None would plot against another;
None have heart to wrong a brother.

Then the Sun of righteousness
Would at once dispel distress;
Every wrong by Love be righted
And God's children dwell united.
