It is four years since Christian Science was brought to my notice by a friend, and I would like to express a little of my gratitude for what it has done for me, as at that time I was and had been a great sufferer, and very miserable. Everything I thought might help me had been tried, but with no permanent relief. Since beginning to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy I have not been to a doctor or taken medicine of any kind, whereas before that I was seldom without it. To-day I am a strong, well woman. I had been subject to a throat trouble from childhood, but now am free from it. When I began to read Science and Health my eyes were so weak that after a few minutes' reading I had to stop, otherwise I could scarcely see for days afterwards on account of the pain in my head. Now I can read for hours and feel no ill effects. For years I suffered a great deal internally but would not undergo an operation; for more than two years now I have had no pain. Rupture, rheumatism, and other ills have also been overcome by this new-old religion.
I did not come to Christian Science for the healing alone but because I found it to be the Christ-teaching I had been seeking for years. I am thankful to God for His many blessings to me, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for being able to explain the Scriptures to us, also for the authorized literature.—(Miss) M. H. Hawken, Whangarei, New Zealand.
