Christian Science has been a great help to me in all kinds...
Christian Science has been a great help to me in all kinds of trouble. I had suffered from heart disease since childhood, had a chronic bowel difficulty for sixteen years, nervous prostration for a long period, and also was troubled with sleeplessness. All medical remedies had failed to bring any permanent relief. Then hemorrhage of the bowels set in, and the doctors said death was the only relief. I was unable to lift myself even in the bed and every one expected the end was very near. I knew almost nothing of Christian Science but said if it held such wonderful help for other people it surely could do something for me. I destroyed all my medicine, called a practitioner, and was healed of this trouble in one treatment. In ten days I was up and walking about the house, eating anything I wished, and soon was able to go down the street alone, a well and happy woman. For several years I took no medicine and an attack of grippe was overcome in a few days by Christian Science alone.
After this came the war, and I went to live in a home for women. When I became ill I was kept in the hospital building for some time—and of course in some degree was subject to the physician's orders. All their efforts failed to bring health or permanent help and I lay insensible for six days and nights. The sentence of death was again pronounced and I was given only a few hours to live. Christian Science once more saved my life and in a few hours after a practitioner began to treat me the high fever subsided. I fell into a natural sleep and awoke rational and well. It was said by those who witnessed my healing that surely a miracle had been performed.
My grandson, a child of seven years, was healed of nervous trouble and has had no return of it in the eleven years that have passed since then. When the war came, one of my sons was sent overseas, not even having time to say good-by to his family or his mother. I laid my trouble in God's hands, and was never anxious or unhappy about him. After the last battles before the armistice he was ordered home, and came back to us unharmed, without a single wound. Many other trials and difficulties have been overcome, and now at an advanced age I am trying to do my duty to the Father of us all. I am still reasonably strong and get about as well as any of my companions here. I am more grateful to God and His son Christ Jesus for the blessings I still have, than any words can say; also to our dear Leader for giving this wonderful gift to the whole world.
