For ten or twelve years prior to turning to Christian Science...

For ten or twelve years prior to turning to Christian Science I was subject to attacks of quinsy, sometimes attended by severe hemorrhages, and I was never free from fear of taking cold. Homeopathy was resorted to and for about three years there was no recurrence of the disease, but hope was soon dispelled, for the trouble came back in a more aggravated form. About this time an article on Christian Science which appeared in a newspaper deeply impressed me, and when pronounced symptoms of tubercular disease could not be overcome and physicians said there was no hope save through an operation on the throat, I purchased the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The wonderful teachings of this book, revealing the Scriptures in their true spiritual light, became so all-absorbing that physical ills were forgotten. Although more than sixteen years have elapsed since then, the throat disease has never reappeared, and headaches, stomach trouble, and rheumatism have been overcome. Christian Science, when faithfully applied, has never been found wanting.

I am indeed very thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who through her faithful, untiring labors and loving self-sacrifice rediscovered and gave to the world the religion taught and practiced by Jesus and his disciples.
