Christian Science came to me in 1908 at a time when medicine had failed to give even the slightest relief. As a last resort, at the earnest solicitation of a friend, I kept an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner, with the result that I then and there took my stand for Principle and as soon as possible destroyed all our medicine. At that time I was suffering from acute rheumatism, sciatica, severe stomach trouble, and irregular heart action. After the third treatment I ate a very hearty dinner with no ill effects. The rheumatism and stomach trouble disappeared. It was not, however, until after almost eight months' earnest study and help that the sciatica left me completely. Since then many serious ailments have quickly yielded to the truth.
To tell all of what this wonderful blessing has accomplished for myself and my family would take many pages, but the greatest is the peace, or spiritual uplift,—the knowing that God's law is ever present to work for us when we earnestly and understandingly obey it. I am truly grateful to Christian Science for what it has done for us physically, financially, and most of all spiritually,—grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her untiring life work in giving her inspired revelation to the world so all might share in its blessing.
The Christian Science Monitor holds a unique place in modern journalism for its honest, truthful upbuilding and fearless news items, which make it a daily newspaper in the highest sense of the word. I wish to express gratitude for all the literature sent out by the Publishing Society. My heart fills with love to God, to our dear Leader, and to all those who have helped us on the way to an understanding of the truth as practiced by Christ Jesus nineteen hundred years ago, and rediscovered by Mrs. Eddy and given to a hungry world.—C. Jellison, Covington, Ky.
