I feel it my duty to tell of the many blessings that have come into my life since taking up the study of this beautiful truth. Christian Science is indeed the strength of my life. Practically all my life I had been under the care of doctors, and yet I did not come into Christian Science for physical help; I was, however, healed instantaneously. A friend had been healed of appendicitis, and when I went to her home for dinner one evening I asked her to let me read some of the Christian Science literature. I read only about fifteen minutes, but knew I was healed, as I felt the spiritual uplift. For nearly twelve years I had taken a material remedy every night, but I did not do so that night and have never taken a drop of any kind of medicine since. This healing took place over fifteen months ago. I never cease to thank God that I have gained the true understanding that He is our Life. Stomach trouble of years' standing has been overcome. I always had to diet, but now eat anything and everything.
Several months ago I fell very heavily on the ice. I denied at once that I had sustained an injury to my back, but after two weeks mortal mind kept repeating that the spine had been injured, for the pain was seemingly very intense. I decided to get help from a practitioner, but put it off and continued to treat myself. On Monday morning the Sentinel came, and I eagerly devoured its contents, knowing that I was going to be helped. How I praise God and thank our dear Leader for giving us this true understanding of Life and Love. Before night the pain had vanished.
My one hope and desire is that as I gain more light and understanding of this new-old religion, I may be able to point the way to others. I find this quotation from the Bible very helpful: "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
