With a grateful heart I give this testimony
With a grateful heart I give this testimony. For fifteen years I was sick. I had tried all the doctors in the city and vicinity, but they were unable to help me. My sickness was diagnosed as catarrh of the stomach, and after all material remedies were exhausted, the doctors advised a change of climate. This we tried and at first my condition was apparently improved, but after a short time it became worse than ever. Hay fever, inflammation of the stomach, and rheumatism developed. I became very thin and was obliged to live on a milk diet, but after a while even that failed me. A friend brought Christian Science to my notice, but I did not understand it. I suffered for two years more and finally appeared to be on the brink of the grave. One day a salesman asked my husband why I did not try Christian Science, and said he would give us the address of a practitioner, to whom we could write. When my husband returned and told me of this, I was filled with such confidence that after the letter was written I could hardly wait for the answer to arrive. When the practitioner came to see me she told me to eat something, and I was given meat and potatoes. It tasted very good and did not harm me. After dinner I got up, and a week later was able to do my own housework. Since then all my family have been helped through Christian Science, and nearly all of them have become members of the branch church here.
I thank God, the giver of all good, for having led us to Christian Science. Through the study of this religion we have been enabled to live a better life and receive a better understanding of Life. I could not live without it now. I also wish to give deep thanks to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who so lovingly and patiently worked for humanity so as to enable all to receive a share of the "bread of life."
(Mrs.) Henrietta Wilke, Neillsville, Wis.
