I should like to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science...
I should like to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. At one time when my life seemed full of sorrow and trouble, I was led to borrow a copy of Mrs. Eddy's wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I read and reread it, and as I began to understand God as Love, and the healing power of Truth, sorrow, worry, anxiety, selfishness, and a hot temper were in a great measure overcome.
One Saturday morning while at work in an aeroplane factory, I had a blow on the head from the end of an aeroplane. For the moment I was stunned; then came the thought expressed in Science and Health (p. 393), "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind." I was able to finish my work and go on through the day as usual. In the evening I became faint and felt very ill. Sunday morning my landlady urged me to stay in bed, as I had fainted three times and felt semidazed, but though tempted to do this I felt that I must make an effort to go to the Christian Science service. This I was able to do, and with the loving help of a practitioner I was healed that day. Another time I was taken ill with symptoms of an old complaint, appendicitis. I asked for treatment and was healed in two days. Before coming into Christian Science I was laid up with this once three months and once nine weeks. Since March, 1915, every physical ailment has been overcome by the power of divine Love. I know there is no life apart from God and that all difficulties confronting me will be overcome through a right understanding of God. I am very fond of animals and have often been able to help them.
I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for bringing to us in this age the truth that Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, demonstrated so many centuries ago.
