About four years ago Christian Science was wonderfully brought to me. I had just experienced a very deep sorrow, and had earnestly prayed to God that I might be led into the truth and find comfort and peace from mental agony. I received many letters of sympathy, among which was one from a stranger, a most kind and loving letter. There was no mention of Christian Science, but I at once had the desire to know the person who had written me this beautiful letter. I wrote asking her to call, and when she came she told me of Christian Science and its wonderful teaching. She also said that on hearing of my trouble a voice seemed to urge her to write to me.
Previous to this I had not heard of Christian Science, but I realized at once that it was indeed the truth which had come to me in answer to my prayer. My new found friend lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and I at once took up the earnest study of it. She also lovingly helped me and visited me, until my seeming sorrow was turned to joy, and I had realized that Christian Science is the Comforter. It is the greatest blessing in my life and in my home, because it has given me a practical religion and an understanding of God as divine Principle, our loving Father-Mother God, who is our ever present help.
I am very grateful, too, for physical healing. I have been healed of lumbago from which I had suffered for fifteen years. The doctors had told me I could not be cured, and that I would have a return of the trouble with a change of weather. I have also been healed of severe headache and backache. I have had no special treatment, but through the earnest study of Science and Health and other writings by Mrs. Eddy, these ailments have simply vanished, and I rejoice and thank God for freedom from these ills. Especially, however, do I thank God for the spiritual understanding I have gained through the study of this healing truth.
