Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 66) that "trials are proofs of God's care," and I have surely proved this. A little over a year ago I moved with my family to a small town where there were no active Christian Scientists and no practitioners. My little girl was stricken with throat trouble, seemingly very acute. I called for help over the long-distance telephone, but the second day she grew worse. I was at first dreadfully frightened and tried to reach the practitioner but could not; then the thought came to me clearly that God was there and no one else was needed. So I talked with the child, assuring her of God's presence and power. Needless to say the problem was solved. All was well with the child, and I took one step up on the ladder. The healing has been permanent, and I wish to express gratitude for the demonstration.
