Two years ago I was very much opposed to Christian Science
Two years ago I was very much opposed to Christian Science. Then came my sister-in-law's healing. She had been given up by three prominent physicians, but the day which was set for the last proved to be the first of a new life for her, begun in Christ, Truth. A sister, a student of Christian Science, came with her understanding of an ever present God whose hand "is not shortened, that it cannot save." Turning to divine Love as a little child, listening to the comforting words of Life, Truth, and Love, and drinking from that fount of living water, the patient was led into that glorious land of liberty where dominion is realized, and instantaneous healing followed. She is a well and happy woman to-day.
With all my Bible study and training in Sunday school and church work, had I any such knowledge of an all-powerful, ever present God? Why could I not prove all things when I believed in a very powerful God? We read in Proverbs, "Get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Before long I attended a Christian Science lecture, and I went away with the words of Truth ringing in my ears. The next step was to attend a Christian Science service, and the very Scriptural passages that I was sure Christian Science would be leaving out of the Bible were the very ones I heard read. I had by no means accepted Christian Science, but as darkness cannot remain where there is light, so errors of thought, though at first unconsciously, were destroyed through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Many beautiful opportunities to prove the allness of God have come since. I have been able to prove the unreality of sickness and other discordant conditions not only for myself but for others.
I rejoice for the testing times, the separating of the dross from the gold, and I thank God for Christian Science.
