The ever presence of God was proved to me nearly seven years ago, and I give the following experience with the greatest gratitude for every lesson it has contained. The week I learned that my home, with everything that seemed to contribute to the happiness of existence, was being swept away, I asked a friend about Christian Science. In a very few words she told me something of what it stood for, and it was just as if a darkened window had suddenly been flung open and the sun allowed to stream in. The overwhelming feeling of chaos and responsibility left me. I knew that I should receive strength and help, and it was truly experienced in the most wonderful sense of harmony that prevailed during the proceedings which followed. A post in a large philanthropic work was offered to me within a week and immediately accepted. During this time "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy was given to me, but it was not until six months later that I started systematically to study Christian Science; then for a year and a half I read all the periodicals and studied the Lesson-Sermons. I had many moments of great discouragement, feeling that I was not gaining all I should, but on returning to town and having to make a very big decision, I found that these months of study had helped me to rely absolutely on Truth, and the right course quite naturally unfolded. Ever since then I have had every need supplied and much to share.

These years of business life have given wonderful opportunities for spiritual growth, and many times evil has been proved powerless by turning to the Lesson-Sermon for the week and trying to stand with Principle as revealed therein. Difficulties with workers have often been overcome by taking the path where moral courage was required to affirm the truth of being. Relying entirely on Christian Science, I was enabled to have a double tooth painlessly extracted. I have enjoyed good health since turning to Christian Science, whereas previously I was always having to take medicine and see the doctor.

I should like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all those who, with much patience and encouragement and correction, have helped and are helping me on in this path of Truth and Love. To have a practical religion, whereby one can prove evil, unhappiness, and sickness to be unreal, makes one daily and hourly more grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the incomparable message to mankind contained in Christian Science.
