[Written for the Sentinel]
The Journey
WE
need not remember the fearing,
The anguish that crowded the night.
We need but remember the clearing
Of dawn, and the sweetness of light.
We need not remember the error
That lied, without mercy or ruth.
We need not remember the terror,
But only the triumph of Truth.
We need not remember the waging
Of war, and the battle's increase.
We need not remember the raging,
But only the power of peace.
We need not recall the old sadness,
God's presence and guidance to prove;
Our pathway now glowing with gladness,
Each step is directed by Love.
