Words cannot express my gratitude to God for Christian Science
Words cannot express my gratitude to God for Christian Science. When I first read Science and Health I had tried every remedy that I had heard of. I felt no change in mind or body until I read on page 16 the first words of the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father-Mother God." These gave me a glimpse of heavenly light, for that is what I had been longing for all my life—a perfect Father-Mother God. When I read, "Give us this day our daily bread," and its spiritual interpretation, all the years of bitterness, hate, and fear vanished from thought. I knew then, as I know now, that nothing satisfies but perfect Love.
At that time intoxicants, tobacco, and profanity were my comforters. I did not give them up in the sense of sacrificing something I wanted; I simply know that I found something better. When I think of what my life was before I became interested in Christian Science, of the many colds and a chronic stomach trouble which I had for years, and that these have been overcome through the application of this wonderful truth, then know that I must watch and pray for the Mind of Christ that I work rightly in God's vineyard, and know that the truth which belongs to one belongs to all, that one God—one Mind, Life, Truth, and Love—is All-in-all. For these blessings I am indeed thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, and to all those who have helped me to an understanding of Christian Science.
