I am more grateful than I can express for the knowledge,...

I am more grateful than I can express for the knowledge, gained through the study of Christian Science, that God is infinite Life, Truth, Love, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. I am also deeply and sincerely grateful for God's daily protection and loving care and guidance, which is being demonstrated to me each day.

As a striking illustration of the ever presence of Mind, I desire to relate the following to me wonderful demonstration of God's protecting care for His children. In an automobile accident last summer I was thrown violently against the wind shield of the machine, thereby breaking it; however, I had no sensation of having been thrown against it until I felt blood streaming over my face and found that my front teeth had been loosened, cutting the lip on the inside, and that my mouth was full of bits of splintered glass. Immediately, in the midst of my friends' worried expressions of fear, I denied the reality of this claim of mortal mind, and repeated over and over again the "scientific statement of being," as found on page 468 of Science and Health, realizing all the time that God's child could suffer no hurt. There was no pain at any time, either then or thereafter, although to mortal sense my right eyelid was so badly cut that my friends suggested having stitches taken in it. Getting out of the machine I walked about half a mile to a farmhouse, where I telephoned to a practitioner in a near-by city for treatment. Afterward I had several present treatments. At no time did I look at the eyelid or have any curiosity or desire to see it, but I endeavored always to keep in thought only the perfect concept. In this way no erroneous mental picture was formed and I was better enabled to bring out the harmonious and perfect idea. For this reason, and because of the material thought around me, it was necessary to keep the eye covered for some time, but aside from that there was no inconvenience experienced.

With this indisputable evidence of God's ever presence always before me, is it any wonder that fresh impetus was given to my study of Christian Science and that earnest endeavor took the place of former spasmodic efforts? The spiritual uplift that has come to me as one of the first fruits of my study has indeed proved to be a comforter on all occasions. I can see now that I did not really live until Christian Science brought to me its message of absolute truth and adherence to Principle.
