In gratitude for Christian Science I submit the following testimony. The understanding of God as a "very present help in trouble" has enabled me to overcome much discord, and when rightly applied has never failed to bring about freedom from the bondage of sin and sickness. One experience which comes to thought is cause for deepest gratitude. While I was looking over a pile of heavy beams that had been the support of an old barn roof and trying to throw off a board from the top of the pile, one of the lower beams loosened and fell out, striking my foot and ankle. There was no thought of fear or accident, but just the knowing of God's power and protection as taught in Christian Science. When the beam had been lifted, I stood up and walked over to the house with no indication of what had happened, except a slight bruise where the beam had struck. Truly God's love for His children is constant and compassionate, and can be demonstrated by all who seek to know Him aright.

I had another proof of God's care some time ago while riding to school on my bicycle. The wheel had caught in a rut in the ground and on being forced out struck a near-by fence. The shock threw me against the fence, with the result that my leg was severely cut on the barbed wire. On my way home I realized the truth of the "scientific statement of being," as given by Mrs. Eddy on page 468 of Science and Health, and by the time I had reached the house much of the soreness and inflammation had disappeared, and I felt no pain. In a few days the leg was entirely normal. Other ailments, such as colds, headaches, and bilious attacks, have vanished into their native nothingness through the realization of God's infinite goodness and love.

More glorious than the physical overcoming is the constant knowing that divine Love provides all good for mankind. The true evidence of our gratitude for what Christian Science teaches is our endeavor to express each day more love for God and our brother man. The healing feast of Truth and Love is free to all who will partake of its bounty. The Scripture states, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters;" and they who drink of this living water are satisfied and blessed indeed.
