For many years I suffered from rheumatism and gradually...
For many years I suffered from rheumatism and gradually grew worse until absolute helplessness seemed imminent; and as I was obliged to travel to earn my living, the ailment was aggravated. Three Christian Scientists traveled with me a week or two, and their words and works were a light upon my path. Knowing that God could heal and care for all He created, and believing that the Christian Science prayer would be heard immediately, I applied for treatment several months later, and purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Rheumatism, a throat trouble, and a bowel ailment which had not been mentioned when asking for help, were all overcome in a day or two, and spiritual healing, more precious than all else, also took place at this time. That was over five years ago. Since then there has been a daily growth and more proof of God's loving-kindness. I seemed to be always taking cold. My first year in Christian Science this belief disappeared, and last year I was healed of liver trouble in one treatment.
My debt to God is so great that no words can express how much He has done for me; His love has been always constant. I am grateful for a better understanding of the Bible, the right knowledge of Jesus' life work, also for Mrs. Eddy's wonderful discovery. Only as we take up the cross and follow Christ are we worthy to be called Christian Scientists, and so I am endeavoring to work out my own salvation.—(Mrs.) Mary Enos Burke, St. Joseph, Mo.
